One of the most frequent questions we get at Infinite Discs is “what is this plastic like, and how does it compare to…?” In an effort to publish as much information as possible, here is your rundown of every plastic which we have available here at Infinite Discs.

ABC
[tabs slidertype=”top tabs”] [tabcontainer] [tabtext]Bronze Plastic[/tabtext] [tabtext]Gold Plastic[/tabtext] [tabtext]Platinum Plastic[/tabtext] [/tabcontainer] [tabcontent] [tab]
Plastic Grade: Bronze plastic is a basic plastic grade which is ABC’s most affordable plastic, and practical for your short game. Only available in ABC’s money putter.
Durability: Not durable, but that’s ok. Because this plastic is available for ABC’s only putter, it is unlikely that you will be putting this plastic into any situation which is going to take the durability of this plastic to the limit.
Grip: Grippy, not tacky.
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: DX, Pro-D
Bronze Plastic Overall Pros:
Price and quality all wrapped into a nice little disc. While the Money putter is available in a variety of plastics, this is a great way to start if you want to support smaller American disc golf manufacturers.
Bronze Plastic Overall Cons:
If you’re expecting to use your putter for some all-around purposes (especially drives), purchase a more expensive plastic. This will get beat up and flight will be affected.
[/tab] [tab]
Plastic Grade: Gold line is an upper-end plsatic, but falls into the middle of the group for ABC.
Durability: Very durable. Use this plastic when obstacles are in sight
Grip: If you have tried Champion or Elite Z plastic, you’ll know exactly how this feels. Slightly slick.
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Champion, Elite-Z
Gold Plastic Overall Pros:
Holds up well in all conditions, beautiful clean appearance, generally stands out in whatever environment you are throwing in making for an easier find. Very rigid. This plastic can take some hits and stay consistent in flight.
Gold Plastic Overall Cons:
The main concern is grip – which for some is not a concern. This is a smooth plastic that releases easily, but sometimes unpredictably.
[/tab] [tab]
Plastic Grade: Premium plastic.
Durability: Very durable.
Grip: Somewhat grippy, still somewhat slick.
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: CONTENT GOES HERE
Platinum Plastic Overall Pros:
Platinum plastic is closely related to Gold plastic. Unlike Innova & Discraft which have their premium plastic as a more flexible, more grippy, yet still extremely durable, the Platinum plastic is very rigid and only slightly more tacky than Gold plastic.
Platinum Plastic Overall Cons:
The difference in durability is not huge between the Gold and Plastinum plastic, so if you don’t want to pay the extra price, settle for some slightly cheaper plastic. Having said that, if you have that extra power, you will want the extra durability Platinum provides.

Aerobie
[tabs slidertype=”top tabs”] [tabcontainer] [tabtext]Aerobie Standard Plastic[/tabtext] [/tabcontainer] [tabcontent] [tab]
Plastic Grade: Basic, Cheap
Durability: Not Durable
Grip: Very Grippy
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Unique
Aerobie Standard Plastic Overall Pros:
The Standard plastic, Aerobie’s only plastic blend for disc golf discs, has a very tacky feel to it, and is very bold in all of the colors in which it comes – though the purple is typically a bit darker.
Aerobie Standard Plastic Overall Cons:
This plastic likes to be thrown, but doesn’t like to hit anything. Every collision made with this plastic is going to be visible for the life of the disc.

Black Jax
[tabs slidertype=”top tabs”] [tabcontainer] [tabtext]Black Jax Plastic[/tabtext] [/tabcontainer] [tabcontent] [tab]Plastic Grade: Mid-Grade, Night Play
Durability: Semi-Durable
Grip: Semi-Tacky
Black Jax Plastic Overall Pros:
Durable enough, while still tacky. The obvious advantage of Black Jax though is not the plastic, it’s what they put into the plastic – 3 LED lights that look like a UFO – super bright, and illuminates the night.
Black Jax Plastic Overall Cons:
Because it’s unique in it’s class, it is difficult to label any cons here. No, it’s not the most supreme plastic, but that’s not it’s intention.

Grip: Strong Grip
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: DX, Pro-D
Ching Power Plastic Overall Pros:
Innova once manufactured Ching plastic. Though it is unclear when that stopped, the discs we now know in the Ching lineup have been manufactured elsewhere.
Ching Power Plastic Overall Cons:
Power line plastic cannot take a beating. This disc has a quick “customizable” flight path – this is the manufacturers way of saying it is inconsistent, but will eventually beat in and you’ll get use to it.[/tab] [tab]Plastic Grade: Mid-Grade
Durability: Semi-Durable

Innova
[tabs slidertype=”top tabs”] [tabcontainer] [tabtext] DX[/tabtext] [tabtext] Pro[/tabtext] [tabtext] Champion[/tabtext] [tabtext] Blizzard[/tabtext] [tabtext] Star[/tabtext] [/tabcontainer] [tabcontent] [tab]Plastic Grade:Low grade plastic. Cheap.
Durability: DX Plastic is not durable. Leave it in the heat, throw it against a hard object, and this disc will have a chunk missing in no time. One of the great things about the “moldability” of the DX plastic is your ability to restore it – if it missing a chunk, hold it over an open flame for a moment and remold the plastic into shape using your thumb.
Grip: What DX lacks in durability it makes up for in grip. DX is a grippy disc and retains grip in moisture much more than other plastics.
Identical Plastic: Discmania D-Line
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Discraft Pro-D
Innova DX Plastic Overall Pros:
While Innova discs may not last long over time, they are among the most affordable discs on the market. Fantastic for entry level players. DX plastic is also the only plastic in the Innova lineup to have the full picture stamps.
The ideal situation when to use DX is on putt and approach. The shorter, low speed shots will not damage the disc, and the extra grip can provide that extra bit of control you need when putting.
Innova DX Plastic Overall Cons:
If you are using DX in tight fairways, beware. DX plastic always loses battles when colliding with hard objects (trees, concrete, etc…). DX plastic also becomes a more understable disc fairly rapidly, changing the flight of the disc. If you want to hold onto a disc, upgrade to at least Champion plastic.[/tab] [tab]Plastic Grade: Mid-grade. More durable than DX, while still grippy.
Durability: Pro plastic is durable, but still has a relatively low short life.
Grip: Pro plastic has several different grades of grip, and can vary from batch to batch. For the most part, the plastic is extremely, and in the Aviar putter lineup of discs (JK, Yeti, KC..), it may surpass the grip of DX.
Identical Plastic: Discmania P-Line, Millennium Standard
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Discraft Elite X
Innova Pro Plastic Overall Pros:
Pro plastic is for the player who wants to retain grip, but have an upgrade in durability from the lower grade DX plastic. Most commonly used in Innova’s putter line, and a few of their best sellers, Pro plastic is very economical while providing a disc which you can have for a while.
Innova Pro Plastic Overall Cons:
Pro plastic is ideal for putters, but is in that awkward between state for drivers. It’s not cheap, yet not premium. If you’re looking for a distance driver that you can really hold onto, upgrade.[/tab] [tab]Plastic Grade: Durable.
Durability: Champion plastic is the most durable in the Innova family. While it is not indestructible, it may as well be for the entry player who can not send a disc at higher speeds. Many champion discs have survived errant throws into hazardous areas. This plastic is the most likely of the Innova lineup to retain its flight over time.
Grip: Newer plastic blends of champion plastic have slightly more grip than the previous blend which has a smooth, almost slick feel to it. Champion plastic is likely to be inconsistent in wet conditions – this is why you will see many disc golfers have a towel with their bag.
Identical Plastic: Discmania C-Line, Millennium Quantum
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Discraft Elite-Z
Innova Champion Plastic Overall Pros:
The most obvious benefit of Champion plastic is the durability. Champion plastic is slightly transparent, and for that reason the plastic is brighter and looks more out of place in a natural enviorenment. For that reason, it is one of the easiest discs to find which is a huge benefit.
Innova Champion Plastic Overall Cons:
Champion plastic is unimaginative in design. Same font on each disc, same general layout of the stamp… not the most attractive. Champion plastic also lacks grip which all of the other plastics in the Innova lineup offer. Other than that, there is little bad to say about Champion plastic.[/tab]
[tab]Plastic Grade: Professional
Durability: Blizzard plastic is the same plastic blend as Champion, but the weight is lightened by injecting air bubbles into the plastic. This generally does not decrease the durability of the plastic, unless the structure of the disc has been compromised by an excess of air bubbles (may be found in very lightweight Blizzard plastic discs).
Grip: Blizzard plastic at times seems to be even more slick than Champion, making Blizzard arguable the most slick of all plastics.
Identical Plastic: Discmania Blizzard, Millennium Zero-G
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Latitude 64 Opto Air, Westside VIP Air
Innova Blizzard Plastic Overall Pros:
Blizzard plastic currently holds the world distance record. The lighter weight makes this disc an ideal premium disc for entry level players, as well as more advanced players who are looking to get a more understable feel from a disc which is made to fly the distance. It is rumored that discs under 150g float in water. We have noticed this to be true with the very light weights (under 140g), but not always true with discs which border the 150g mark.
Because of the air bubbles in the plastic, Blizzard plastic is also by far the brightest plastic on the market.
Innova Blizzard Plastic Overall Cons:
Slippery.[/tab] [tab]Plastic Grade: Premium.
Durability: Star plastic is not as durable as its predecessor, Champion plastic. Star beats in slowly over time which makes it more understable. Star plastic is still likely to survive a collision with a hard object without much visible damage – it is incredibly difficult to gauge Star plastic.
Grip: Star plastic offers a comfortable grip which is slightly tacky, but not overly tacky to cause a late release. Some would say, “just the right amount of tack.”
Identical Plastic: Discmania S-Line, Millennium Sirius
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Discraft ESP
Innova Star Plastic Overall Pros:
Star Plastic is very clean and is typiically offered in bold colors which are easy to find. The plastic holds its form over time, and feels nice in the hand. For those who want a premium collection of discs, star plastic is a smart move.
Innova Star Plastic Overall Cons:
Similar to the Champion plastic, star plastic is unimaginative (yet slightly more modern). The disc will become more overstable over time, so if you love how it is beat in, watching a star plastic disc sail out of sight can be disheartening.[/tab] [/tabcontent] [/tabs]

Durability: There is no plastic which is more durable than Opto. Other plastic may come close, but this is the most durable, the most rigid plastic on the market.
Grip: Opto is similar in feel to Champion, meaning it has slight grip to it.
Identical Plastic: Westside VIP, Dynamic Discs Lucid
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Innova Champion, Discraft Z
Latitude 64 Opto Plastic Overall Pros:
Opto plastic is a highly durable plastic in an array of colors. The artwork which comes on the Opto plastic is very unique and creative – definitely a plastic which is worth showing off to friends. Opto also comes in a variety of weights, making it easy to find a disc which will be suitable for you.
Latitude 64 Opto Plastic Overall Cons:
Other than the grip, Opto performs very well. [/tab] [tab]Plastic Grade: Professional
Durability: Very Durable
Grip: Smooth, less grippy.
Identical Plastic: Westside VIP Air
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Innova Blizzard
Latitude 64 Opto Air Plastic Overall Pros:
If you want to give a smaller arm a nice disc to crank, this plastic is a fine choice. Durable, yet beginner friendly.
Latitude 64 Opto Air Plastic Overall Cons:
Nothing bad to say about Opto Air, except the designs are boring.[/tab]
[tab]Plastic Grade: Premium
Durability: Very durable.
Grip: Tacky, not sticky.
Identical Plastic: Westside Tournament, Dynamic Discs Fuzion
Closest Non-Identical Plastic: Discraft Titanium, Innova Star
Latitude 64 Gold Plastic Overall Pros:
The Gold line plastic is unique in appearance. It has a marble/pearlescent effect to it which gives the plastic more visual dimension making it the most eye appealing plastic on the market. The extra grip gives you just the right touch and control. Latitude 64 Gold Line plastic also comes in a wide variety of colors which may be very bright, to natural earth tones.
Latitude 64 Gold Plastic Overall Cons:
Latitude 64, like all other manufacturers has standardized their stamp on their premium plastic. The Latitude 64 gold line stamp is just as uninventive and lacks inspiration just as much as the others. Although, while the stamp is not original, it is classy.[/tab] [/tabcontent] [/tabs]
